Anthony Gordon has credited caretaker boss Lee Carsley for his senior side’s 5-0 thrashing of Ireland in their final game in charge of the national team.
England finished the Nations League B2 as group winners with 15 points from 6 matches, level with Greece, but the Three Lions have a superior head-to-head record.
Meanwhile, Gordon, who was making his ninth senior appearance for the Three Lions, scored his first goal for the Three Lions.
“Better late than never, of course it’s about time!” Gordon said.
“It was a good feeling to see it go in. I did it with some of the players I’ve played with in England, so that made it a little bit more special.”
“They made it very difficult. They defended with 11 men behind the ball. But I told everyone, ‘They can’t run for 90 minutes. It’s impossible.’
“I think Lee (Carsley) deserves a lot of credit, he’s given us Register ufabet a lot of confidence,”
“I have had a fair few chances for England and it just hasn’t gone in.
“It was just nice to see it hit the back of the net.
“Lee has made some bold calls. Giving a lot of chances to young lads and we all thank him very much for that.”
This was the first time an NUFC trio had start an England match since Shearer. Batty and Lee in April 1997, just the 27+ years ago.
Two minutes after the opener, Tino Livramento crossed and after deflections off a couple of Irish players. It dropped for Anthony Gordon to smash home his first ever England goal.
