Aston Villa will not exercise their £40million option to buy Marcus Rashford, according to Fabrizio Romano.
That means Rashford will return to Manchester United and the £40m price tag is still open to interested clubs. This summer,
the club released a statement on their decision, saying:
“Aston Villa would like to thank Robin Olsen and Courtney House, whose contracts with the club have expired, as well as the players on loan who will return to their original clubs. “
Marco Asensio, Marcus Rashford and Axel Disasi all joined on loan in February until the end of the 2024/25 season. “

The 27-year-old has re-engaged in his impressive form at Villa Park since joining from Manchester United on loan in the January transfer window.
In 17 appearances in all competitions for Villa, Rashford scored four goals, including a brace in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Preston, and provided six assists.
Perhaps his best form came in the second half of the Champions League quarter-final second leg at Paris Saint-Germain, where Unai Emery’s side almost pulled off a comeback, winning 3-2 but losing 5-4 on aggregate.
